April 25

I'm going to do it. Yes, I'm going to do it. I'm taking the baton from Julie, and committing to daily sketchercize every day for a year. I was so inspired a year ago when she started her challenge, and I'm still so very impressed with her for keeping it up through horrible weather, illness, heavy workload, and the demands of her family. If she can do it, so can I.

My neighbourhood isn't nearly as scenic as Julie's village, but I will look for and find beauty anyway. And of course there'll be travel in the coming year (including a few days in New York at the end of next month) so you won't be inundated with San Fernando Valley pictures EVERY day.

So here's Day One's offering, drawn on the street behind Chaminade High School, near Fields Market (which is a dying commodity in this city, a non-chain grocery store).

Woo hoo! I was just about to go to bed when I spotted this. I am so delighted. And I'll let you in on a secret, so often I longed to draw something with a bit of gritty urban depth to it rather than yet another field. So I really am looking forward to seeing your neighbourhood.

Hashi I am so pleased to have a companion in my last few months, i was begining to feel it was going to be very lonely.

I'll be following you daily on my computer, Hashi. Good luck.

This little fire hydrant looks like it's protesting at the 'thing' impinging on it's personal space :)
