January 2

Mid-afternoon, I took a break from PowerPoint (was there ever a more boring program?) and went walking. I'm examining different places where I can actually sit down (preferably not on the ground) to draw in my neighbourhood. I have quite a few bus stop seats, but I'm not that impressed with the views around them. Today I discovered that the Home Depot garden center, which is currently quite empty, has plenty of places to sit, both on actual chairs (for sale) and on benches and stoops that will be covered with potted plants as spring approaches. Round trip: 3 miles.

Oh gosh I agree about PowerPoint. Also hate Microsoft publisher which I was forced to use to create templates for a client. Lovely drawing - you can almost see the relief after horrible computer programs. I find leaning against a lamp post or other solid vertical can be better than nothing in the absence of a seat.

Don't you just love the word succulents? :-) Nice sketch!

I like these spiky little succulents and totally agree about Powerpoint. I attended a day-long seminar about making data visual by a famous guy named Tufte that was basically one long anti-PowerPoint rant.

I'm currently infatuated with succulents too! Bought some as christmas gifts and kept TWO of them!
Sitting and drawing? Buy a little camp stool from Dick Blick.
